The new Southport kit will revert to black and yellow stripes for the 2012/13 season, as this stylish new kit shows.

Southport took the opportunity to reveal their new home and away kit during the opening of the new £3.3m redevelopment to Southport market today and initial reaction has been positive to the Nike kits.

The home kit, which has previously used yellow and black halves, will go back to yellow and black stripes for next season, the club has revealed.

The modern kit has a touch of nostalgia about it. Thankfully Nike has decided against placing the badge on a single-colour background, as seems to be the trend in recent years, and it instead straddles two stripes – as does the famous Nike swoosh logo.

The collar is also a traditional polo neck for the home kit, which will be worn with yellow shorts for the forthcoming season.

The away kit was also revealed at Southport’s stall, which is a new venture from the club with the aim of selling merchandise from the revitalised market place.

A simple light blue design for the away kit sees a round neck colour used and, matched to blue shorts, is a new look for Southport for away games.

Southport will be selling the kit, season tickets and other merchandise from Southport market and is currently recruiting volunteers to help out.
